MSCA Day on the Hill

MSCA Day on the Hill took place on Thursday, March 15, 2018.

Pictures from MSCA Day on the Hill

The Minnesota Legislature convened this week to begin the 2018 legislative session. As you know, MSCA is active at the Minnesota State Capitol, working to ensure that our state lawmakers understand the importance of counselors in the lives of our students.

Each year, we plan a Day on the Hill for school counselors to meet with legislators, share our stories and details about our profession, and encourage lawmakers to support our students. Day on the Hill is an important opportunity to speak directly with our state lawmakers. Face-to-face meetings are meaningful, and help build valuable relationships with our elected officials.

Mark your calendar now: MSCA Day on the Hill will take place on Thursday, March 15 this year! We will be wearing BLUE to show unity and advocacy for School Counselors AND there will be CEU’s given for the afternoon ‘Political Advocacy and Leadership’ training. We need you there to help advocate for students and our profession!

Please click on, Register Here to let us know you’ll be attending. In the coming weeks, we’ll share additional details about the day’s agenda and guest speakers.

If you’ve never visited with your legislators before, please don’t let that stop you from attending. We know it can feel a little intimidating – but our lobbying team will start out the day with a welcome and training session to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and prepared. We’ll also provide you with an advocacy toolkit and resources to navigate the Capitol complex, and our lobbyists will be on hand all day to assist.

It is so important that state lawmakers hear from us, their constituents, about what we do as counselors and how having access to counselors is critical to student well being and success.

If you have any questions, please let us know – but don’t forget to sign up Register Here!
